MAIA Creatives have teamed up with Birmingham City Council and Maverick TV to present the Hundreds and Thousands: Through Your Eyes project. It is part of a bunch of exciting things happening to celebrate 2016 as The Year of Arts and Young People in Birmingham (YAY16)

Hundreds and Thousands will see 100 digital shorts exhibited at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and 10 digital shorts to be screened digitally in a high profile location. Want to try your hand at filmmaking and animation before sending something over?

Official Stuff

What are the film requirements?

Entrants can submit their shorts taken on any device accessible to them, e.g. mobile phone, digital camera, laptop, etc. The shorts must be up to 10 seconds long, consisting of film, video and/or animation, in response to the theme: Seeing Birmingham ‘Through Your Eyes’. Videos should be uploaded to Vimeo or YouTube and the link entered into the submission form. Videos must be set to public, not private viewing to be considered.

What is the Through Your Eyes project?

The Hundreds and Thousands: Through Your Eyes project is led by MAIA Creatives, alongside Birmingham City Council and Maverick TV. It is part of a whole host of things happening to celebrate 2016 as The Year of Arts and Young People in Birmingham.

How many will be chosen from the entries?

100 shorts will be chosen for the exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. 10 will then be chosen to be screened digitally in a high profile location. This decision will be made by Maverick TV, MAIA Creatives & Birmingham City Council.

The Rules

  • Entrants must be between 12 and 25 years at the time of submission
  • The shorts must be no longer than 10 seconds long.
  • All workshop participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Entries must only include original content, including sound and visuals, subject to copyright laws. Each entrant therefore, takes any responsibility for the material they submit. No matters related to copyright and Intellectual Property shall be the responsibility of MAIA Creatives, Maverick TV or Birmingham City Council.
  • Entrants give permission for MAIA Creatives, Maverick TV and Birmingham City Council to use their shorts once they’ve been submitted, including for marketing, exhibiting and online use.
  • Please give contact details with your uploads. If you are under the age of 18, please add the details of a responsible adult in the “message” box on the when you submit. Details are for data monitoring and will not be shared elsewhere.
  • The deadline for submissions is Monday 29th February at 5pm.
